Lastfm Player for Fonera 2
Howto use Fonera 2.0 as a Last.fm Webradio station
Idea
When I start my computer in order to listen to lastfm internet radio I’m always tempted to do whatever on the computerr instead of concentrating on my non-computer tasks…
Thus i got to think about a device that might replace a conventional computer as music player…
When i heared about the new fonera with USB 2.0 and openwrt as operating system and last but not least the price of about 50 € including shipping i got the idea to use the tiny device as a cellphone controlled music player.
Ingredients
- Fonera 2.0 (50€)
- USB 2.0 Hub (~5€)
- USB Bluetooth Dongle (~5€)
- USB Soundcard (~3€)
- last.fm Account
Howto
work in progress… any comments are welcome…
But so far i got it running without the bluetooth components.
Just added some bash-scripts (derived from bashfm) and installed madplay via opkg.
the bluetooth part does not yet work as it crashes my fonera as soon as I try to set up the hci device.
Any hints?? -> please leave a comment.
The scripts are to be added soon here!

On #fonosfera, I’ve been advised not to use opkg but to prefer the good old tar. Apparently opkg code is really ugly, and it does not *always* do the job right.
For adding bluetooth support as a plugin, I’ve heard it should be done soon. My advise is : just wait…

btw, I’m interested by your scripts for lastfm. I’ve got exactly the same project for my box (I’m just missing a usb hub, but I’ve bought the soundcard and the bluetooth adapter
)

nothing wrong with opkg…it’s even default installed on the Fonera 2 now
and Openwrt & others have been ipkg/opkg’en for years…
there was an ipkg bug on the fonera classic… BUT only on the fonera
FON never fixed this bug in the Fon Classic
